Bayern Munich first-team players will return to the training ground today according to a statement on the official website of the Bavarian club.

The team has been out of action since March 13 when the Deutsche Fussball Liga (DFL) suspended all matches in the Bundesliga in line with the government lockdown order to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The country is one of the worst-hit countries as far as the COVID-19 pandemic is concerned. Germany alone has over 100, 000 confirmed cases and has recorded over 1,584 deaths since the pandemic started in the country.

However, Bayern Munichbelieves it is safe enough for the senior team players to return to training but the football club doesn’t want their fans anywhere close to the training ground.

The decision of the club to return to training is in line with the recommendation of the DFL which says clubs should suspend training till April 5 which has elapsed on Sunday.

“In order to further slow the spread of the coronavirus, FC Bayern asks fans to continue to follow the instructions of the authorities and therefore please do not come to the FC Bayern training ground.”

NOTE that , the German league was first suspended on March 13 until April 2, but a meeting of clubs on March 31 extended the suspension to at least April 30, 2020.

Bayern Munich who is at the moment on top of the Bundesliga table with 55 points, four points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund, after 25 matches played so far this season.
