UEFA are advising leagues not to cancel their seasons.

European leagues have been told not to “abandon” their seasons, after officials revealed they are working towards plans to resume games from July.

UEFA, the European Club Association [ECA] and the European Leagues [EL] have written to all 55 affiliated associations, including clubs and leagues, and have invited them to “walk together” while addressing the growing problems of the pandemic. of coronavirus.

Belgium Pro League is recommended to quit.
Dutch clubs want the season discontinued.

It has also been made clear by the UEFA chief that associations should continue to work for a resume of their seasons when it is safe to do so.

“It is of the utmost importance that even a disruptive event such as this epidemic does not prevent our competitions from being decided on the track in accordance with their rules and that all sporting titles are awarded based on results,” it states.

“As responsible leaders in our sport, this is what we must ensure, until the last possibility exists and as long as planning, operational and regulatory solutions are available.

“We are confident that football can be restarted in the coming months, with conditions that will be dictated by public authorities, and we believe that any decision to abandon national competitions is, at this stage, premature and unjustified.”
